Social Media Cleanse

Some of you may know (if you follow me on IG as well as FB), that I took some time off all social media sites. I was doing some research and read an article that said that people send too much time on those sites and not enough time in the real world. Also that they tend to make themselves sick of having to make everyone else happy but not bothering to make themselves happy.

That's exactly what was happening to me. I was getting too involved with having to make sure that I commented with 4 words on ALL posts (sometimes there isn't a lot to say about your post, I'm sorry but it's true. Other times I can talk till the cows come home). Some posts are repeats and hey that's completely cool I don't mind that at all! NOT what I'm trying to say. What I'm trying to say is that sometimes we all need a break from all sites.

Admit it, you've got your notifications on all the time for every site out there. It notifies you when Jenny posts or when Johnny liked your post back. Is all that bad? No, it's completely fine. Here's why I decided to leave those sites for awhile. I was spending all of my time on there validating myself on there. Worried about what others will think of my posts, about my pictures, what I had to say, etc. I also spent WAY too much worrying and commenting on people's posts who don't even bother to like mine or comment on mine back. They are just interested in their follower count, their likes on their photos and comments. Not caring about what I post or what I had to say. Which is fine for them, if they want to be selfish and only think about themselves fine. But that doesn't mean that I HAVE to be that way.

I was so so obsessed with making everyone happy by commenting, liking, writing 4 words to EVERY post that they made, that I was not sleeping well. I was tossing and turning worrying if I liked their post, or commenting because I didn't want them to think badly of me. Which is just ridiculous & pretty sad of me.  I mean why was I worrying about what others thought of me when they didn't even care to leave a comment or even like my post? It became too much for me. I just needed to step back and leave for awhile.

Once as I took some time away from those sites, I took a good look at myself. I mean a really hard look about myself, what I wanted, why I was always so sick, why I was always trying to make others happy and never bothering to think about myself. I'm not sure where that aspect of myself came from (I'd assume that's from my childhood or from my parents, but that's not a story I'm going to talk about) but it's not healthy. Sites like facebook and instagram are supposed to be fun, not a chore or homework. That's exactly how it became to me. Having to comment all the time, making sure it was 4 words and I was in a lot of chats on there. I mean I was in WAY too many for my own good. There was other things too but I won't get into why, it's just not worth the effort.

When you spend 90% of your life on a site, having to worry about what others think about you or having to post selfies every day, or a look it just got to be too much! My real life was lacking, it was effecting my relationships, and everything else. IG is supposed to be fun not a chore! it's supposed to be a place where you like & comment on your list, not a demanding place you gotta be present for attendance. I'm not in high school anymore, so I don't need to deal with drama nor did I need with someone telling me like a damn parent that I need to "participate more" or "be more active in the chat" (sorry but those aren't groups, they're chats! HUGE difference? Groups you can do more, chats are where you well chat), "comment with 4 words or more on EVERY post" or else you will not be able to be in our chats no more.  While I appreciate that others are trying to build their page, get more followers, but it was just all too much! It was too much pressure, too much stress to worry about so I left. I will be back every once & awhile but I prefer to write blogs instead. I'm more of a girl behind the camera, who loves to write, who's good at writing. I'm far too shy to be in front of the camera.

While I appreciated people's helpful comments about how I should do "get ready with me videos" or more videos of myself, I hate it. I really do! I do not like having myself recorded. I'm still kind shy about having my picture taken (it's why I started doing selfies in the first place), so doing videos is just out of the question. I do not mind doing videos that are DIYs or even ones that show unboxing but you won't see me behind the camera if I can help it. I also felt major peer pressure by people to have to do things that I didn't want to do, or having to comment all the time. While I don't mind commenting once & awhile, I was in so many chats that there was NEVER a moment that i was getting notified about someone having posted. That just got WAY too much! I'm sorry but I can't be always spending my life on IG commenting!

That's why I took my cleanse. I'll be back but on my own terms and I'll comment, plus like in the future but when I feel like I'm not being pressured to do so. I'll do it because others have shown the same to me, not just because some leader of the chat tells me to.

DIY Bath Bombs

A great way to save money is to do DIYs. I LOVE creating something with my own two hands and using it later for myself. I first started doing DIYs because I wanted to know what was in the products that I was using. Now, I use DIYs because they are more cost efficient (since you use stuff that you already have in your own home) and they save you a lot of money, since you're not buying extra stuff you don't already have. If a DIY asks for something that you don't already have, substitute it. I often look up DIY this or that, but say subsitute the x or y for something else. Hopefully, my search results come with up with something that I do indeed have.

I wanted to make bath bombs at home because let's face it, we all love them and they are super expensive to buy. I have a massive tub (it's really a jacuzzi type of type but without the bubbles, that's where the bath bombs come in), so I can't just use one bath bomb. I need at least 3 or 4. Using so many was costing a lot of money. So, the other week I had a few Amazon gift cards that I got. I decided to look at vipon.com deals & see if I can find a code for DIY bath bomb kit then use my gift card for the rest. They typically have 50% off codes with good reviews on Amazon so I found one. This kit comes with about 12 pieces including a ton of molds as well as measuring spoons and all you can use to make your own at home. Well other than a recipe, that was missing but I just googled that.

I found this recipe that did not have citrus acid. I do not have citrus acid in my house but instead I do have cream of tartar (OK I did till I just used it up in this recipe), so I went to work using that recipe. It was super easy to make and super fun. I did put too much blue dye in but my food coloring isn't drops they're gel so they are different then those. I have to put more in the recipe calls for or else it won't look right or it won't get enough color. I ended up making about 5 or 6 of them. The recipe said it would make only 1 normal sized bath bomb but I either must have done it wrong so their recipe is a bit off. Nevertheless, my recipe came out great.

I also made a half of one which I used to test how well or how bad it came out. I used it in my sink & filled it up some water (didn't want to get the bath water ready if it wasn't going to be worth the effort & waste too much water. Once again, my tub is massive!) & put my hand in the water. It did turn the sink water blue a light blue color. Now I'm not sure if that's because it wasn't set for 24 hours (recipe says let them stand for 24 hours in a non tight container) or if it was because I accidentally used too much food coloring. It does not matter because turning the bath water a color is fine. I've had bath bombs do that to me so that's not a problem. What I was worried about is will it turn my hand blue, and it did not. So that's a huge plus in my book! When I took my hand out, my hand felt very soft and moisturized. So the bath bomb did its job.

If you look at the picture, my DIY bath bomb kit came with the biggest bath bomb mold that I have EVER seen! I've never seen a bath bomb that big in my life! Next time, I do think that I will make more of the bigger ones but I thought I was gonna try out a few molds the first time. Mine also came with ones to make hearts, starfish and a shell. I plan to try to make funky colors and use the other types of bath bombs next time. I was gonna start another batch but I ran out of cream of tartar & like I said, I had no citrus acid so that was a no go.

I do plan on doing a bunch of DIY projects every so often so you guys can see all the wonderful things that you can make at home without having to spend extra $$ on things. I have one for a face powder that's a DIY but you do have to buy the arrowroot powder but that lasts a VERY long time, much longer then any other powder would. It is very soft and it really helps your makeup to stay matte.

I hope you enjoyed my DIY & hope that you do the recipe as well. If you do have citrus acid at home, you can look up that recipe. I also found out after I made it with cream of tartar that you can use lemon juice instead for the recipe. It works just as good. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time I need to make them!

Are You Crueltry Free, If Not You SHould Be!

If you can't take the truth about what makeup companies do to animals & makes you queasy, maybe you shouldn't be buying products that aren't cruelty free.

Because news flash: NON cruelty free products are being TESTED on animals? What does that mean exactly?! It means that they ABUSE the animals, If you have children or pets at home, would you want THEM abused by makeup companies? Treated like rats?!

By buying those products, that's EXACTLY what you're telling the companies. It's OK to test on animals. And if I mention I don't like animal abuse, and that makes you queasy, maybe you should not buy products that promote abuse.

I didn't know that there were companies that did testing on animals. I don't buy those products KNOWING they were tested on animals but after people informed me about it, I didn't keep buying those awful products. I bought products that weren't.

I love that i tried to give people an alternative to makeup brands that are cruelty free & I get yelled at for it. They claim they weren't being rude but sending me "don't stand you soapbox sprouting the truth" bs is being rude.

I only said that I wouldn't use those brands b/c they're not CF, and they test on animals. That i love bunnies. I didn't go into what they do to the animals, I didn't show them a video but they continued to send me DMs telling me that I need to shut my mouth about that stuff.

If you feel the need to cal me out, or send me DMs, then clearly the whole abuse to animals bugs you too and you won't admit it. I later blocked her b/c I was sick of her fifty DMs telling me that "really proud" (which I'm sure is super sarcastic) that I'm CF but I shouldn't judge her for not being one.

I didn't say anything that was judging her! I never mentioned that at all. Now that she got so uppity & kept being rude by sending me tons of DMs yeah I'm judging you now. Clearly, that is an issue with YOURSELF not me. You worry about others think of you. Worry more about the animals you let get abused by buying such shitty products!

Wow you got 20 things of makeup for 70 cents big whoop! Did you think of the thousands of animals that got abused in the process? No, that must make you queasy & makes you feel uncomfortable to think of the truth huh? Sorry if I have morals! Sorry if I'm smarter than you & think of others, unlike you who just wants to get a good deal!

News Flash: I get TONS of good deals from CF brands! Look for those deals why don't you? Like wet n wild, too faced, (for now till estee lauder does something to change that, damn them for buying that brand!), essence, catrice, ulta brand, etc. ALL drugstore brands that sell for a cheap price, but they are good quality!

I can find tons of deals on products that aren't tested on animals. If you get easily offended by me mentioned that those are tested on animals, maybe you're the problem not me! You're the one who thinks it's completely OK for poor defenseless animals to be treated in such a manner. Well I don't! I wasn't even aware that makeup brands even tested on animals till someone told me. I had no idea but when I did, I changed my mi9nd. I stopped buying non CF products, I buy only CF products. I won't touch non CF brands! Not even for a second! There are some K beauty brands like yadah that are 100% natural. They are based overseas but their products are natural. Nothing in those products are harmful to humans or animals. They're not a Japanese based company. I do know that they don't like the rule on animals testing, but they are an alternative to people overseas that want CF products, and want naturally made ones.

What am I asking? THINK before you just buy something b/c it's cheap and on sale! Think before you just buy that new lipsticks, or try that new color b/c everyone thinks it's the hotness! Don't be a sheep, be ahead of the flock & buy reasonably. If all products showed animal abuse/testing on the covers would you buy it?! Nope, 100% positive you'd put down that lipsticks or that new foundation and buy a brand that didn't have it on the cover. Think if makeup brands had to do that by law? Guess what? Things are changing the makeup community, companies are hearing our pleads to stop hurting animals and make their products better.

SO you don't care? OK, fine I'll  tell you this then. That new lipstick, foundation, blush you just bought do you know what's in there?! Are those chemicals that are going on your face are going to be harmful to you?! Most likely if you're using non CF products, yes they are. You see, CF products go through a lot more testing. They are natural, vegan and 100% safe. That means, that they didn't need to test it on a poor defenseless animal because they know they're safe for our faces. But brands like covergirl, maybelliene those aren't safe for your face. Have you used those products before & smelled the chemical smell that they have? Yeah those chemicals you smell, they're toxins on your skin! They will make you sick and those toxins/toxic formula has already made a lot of people sick. If you don't care about animals, so you buy non cf, think of it this way; do you want unsafe products on your face?! If that answer is yes, then don't buy such shitty products! Buy CF that way you know what's going on your face & what's not! THINK before you just blindly buy b/c someone said it works.

Sorry I just had to vent! If you don't like CF products & are offended by my post, think to yourself do you want animals abused? Do you think that's ok?

Allure try before you buy it: first aid cream

Allure first aid beauty cream

Every once in awhile, Allure has a free try before you buy give away. They offer up everything from Skin Care to make up. They used to have sweepstakes that you could win a bunch of prizes at the first of the month every month. But especially in August August had tons of goodies you can

But since they started doing their Allure boxes where you can buy a bunch of their monthly subscriptions and get that stuff instead of 3 days, they decided to get on the Beauty Box bandwagon and no longer have contest. The contest for really fun, you would get there at noon usually a little bit before and you would enter your information and the minute I became known you would press submit and you get a confirmation saying hey congrats you may have one.

But, you didn't exactly know if you would one because they were random and that was just what they sent everyone. You had to be the first one at noon to hit submit and successfully had to go through. If it didn't give you a confirmation and you didn't get successfully through, you would not get that prize. The prices ranged from lotions, mascaraa various makeup items. The amounts was anywhere from $10 worth to over 300 and more. I often won a ton of these in the past and I won over thousands and thousands of prizes in the past. But now that everybody is trying to get in on winning sweepstakes and prizes and freebies, it is really hard to get as much as I used to and I used to win a ton. However I did win a Marshall's gift card for $500. I used it mainly for new wardrobe bunch of clothes some makeup items and I picked up some stuff for the home baked goods accessories Etc. These and I had fun shopping while I had the gift

Anyways it's very hard to get these Allure give away is it's hard to enter these Allure giveaways and get your prize. So when you see this post automatically click the link put your information in and hit enter they often fill up within seconds. Good luck!
